R&D Management Conference highlights for practitioners

The R&D Management Conference, to be held in Cambridge this year, has a very comprehensive programme.  Some of the sessions are particularly relevant to practitioners and these have been marked in blue on the programme.

Keynote – Monday 4th July – 08.45

  • Warren East, Chief Executive, Rolls-Royce plc –  “Building the Future”
  • Joe de Sousa, UK/US Product Development Science & Technology Lead, AstraZeneca  – “21st Century R&D Leadership: The Right Medicine?“

Also on Monday  there is R&D management in practice a STIM Industry Panel chaired by Dr Rob Phaal and held in the Wolfson Hall 13.30

Panel Members will include:

  • Dr Simon McCaldin, European Funding Coordinator, Joining Technologies Group (JNG), TWI Ltd (UK)
  • Dr Bekir Özyurt, Senior Manager, R&D – Technology Networking, BEKO PLC R&D Centre
  • Dr Jon Salkeld, Technology Director, BP
  • Mike Bean, Global R&D Collaborations Portfolio Manager, Syngenta

Keynote: Tuesday 5th July – 09.00

  • David Teece, Tusher Professor of Global Business, Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley – “Profiting from Innovation in the Digital Economy: Platforms, Standards, and Business Models in the Wireless World”
  • Mark Samuels, Managing Director, NIHR Office for Clinical Research Infrastructure (NOCRI), Centre for Science and Policy – “A systems approach to R&D management”

Also on Tuesday  Meet the Editors  – chaired by Dr Letizia Mortara, IfM Dining Room – 11.00
